Momo has moved from the side street and into a small hotel which has a colourful history. The hotel use to be a brothel, it wasn’t till six years ago it was renovated to the hotel it is today. To mark the hotesl’s interesting past they have placed a red lamp as a symbol.

.

The reastaurant itself is small but spacious, the don’t have many tables and general its quite minimal.  I was facing the garden which is very beautifully maintained.  I did get a bit fidgety towards the end of the meal because the seat was relatively quite hard

I

Most of us ordered the set dinner, which came in four courses.  I selected the sashimi set dinner, it came with dumplings, a choice of tempura or soup, my main and dessert which comes in small selection in which you can pick from.

Dumpling was rather nice, to honest it came out quite quickly so I expected it to be cold or lukewarm rather than hot.  Tempura was not one of the best that I have tried it was reasonably portioned and slightly crisp but not very light and airy.

I quite like my sashimi meal, the fish was displayed beautifully which is accompanied with a bowl of miso soup.  I personally found that the soup was very strong.  Dessert was simple we had a choice of fruit, ice cream with a few flavours and yoghurt and orange jelly which was quite interesting.  It was definitely not we were expecting,  it was quite firm with gentle hints of orange.

This is more of a family and conserved place so I don’t think they enjoyed the fact that we were a little loud, and that really showed.  Generally service is quite good but some times its a bit difficult understanding them particularly when they were telling us the desserts but they were kind enough to let us know by writing it down for us.

Unfortunately there is no food porn today because the restaurant doesn’t allow photos to be taken.

The restaurant is decorated so it is like a old fashioned high society restaurant where there are a lot of interpretations Chinese/Japanese ‘like objects’ or as my sister put “offensive looking tea urns”.

The door man looked quite untidy and not part of the restaurant and it was a big contrast to its neighbour but even so he did opened the door for me where I was greeted by a smiling man. I advised that had a reservation and was seat to one side to wait for my table and my friends to arrive. Although the table was ready for sometime I wasn’t seated till one of my friends arrived. Well at least they were kind enough to offer me water whist I waited.

I had the steak and chips. I found the steak was very tender and was done just the way I wanted it; the fries/frites/chips came separately and to me it tasted like the ones I got from Mcleans and they were a little heavy handed with the salt. I really like my Amadine which is a nutty ice-cream. I think it was a little over priced for what we had but nevertheless its is still an experience

Generally we found the service quite poor to the verge that it was very armature like. There was two which was very helpful but its the bad that stood out.

The restaurant is very simple and we were quite surprised that there wasn’t many people in the restaurant.  Decor is kind of homely with a very kitchen like effect where they have a large kitchen table with bread and plates on the table.  Cushions with recipes and bookshelves with cook books.

We have selected to have the special menu.  I had the lobster and shrimp potato cakes.  The crust was lovely and crisp inside was wonderfully smooth with bits of the fish.  To be fair I think that this is the best dish of the meal.

For the main I had the sea bream on squid and crab with lemon grass and coriander cream.  This was a rather rich dish further more in reminded me if a curry,  there was hint of chilli which gave it a slight kick.  The fish’s skin got slightly chewy over time.

The flourless chocolate cake was extremely rich.   This is the first time I have ever seen that not a single person managed to finished their dessert.  The Chocolate cake was very smooth heavy and rich.  The mocha icecream was very refresh but I believe the portions can be better balanced.

This Korean Restaurant is very conveniently located to Holborn Station.  This is very beautifully decorated, where there were quite a few enclosed section.  I was the first to be seated in  an enclosed area and my friends come almost one by one over a duration of 30minutes and not once was I asked for a drink.

Food was quite good for what we paid for.  We shared a Kimchi set and Yuk Hwae were quite mild compared to some of the other ones we have tried which is one of the reason why I liked it and the pear in the Yuk Hwae is very sweet.  The deep fried squid n sweet and spicy sauce was not very crispy but the sauce was very spicy guess it would be better it if  it was more crisp.  Bibimbab must be the most disappointing of all the dishes we tried,  there was so much veg that  the rice turn quite soggy.

I am not too sure about the service as I had a bad start but after my friends got there we order the drinks.  When we asked for refills we are questioned why there was still water in the teapot even though there was barely anything.  My friend had to pour the last drop in to the cup.  This is the first Korean Restaurant I have been to where we have to pretty much serve ourselves.  I wouldn’t say they were not nice just strange.

We made a booking for this restaurant, in which we had to make several confirmations, each time we had to confirm the number of people attending, the set menu and time.  On the last occasion we also highlighted allergies in which they have noted.  The restaurant is located quite near to Roka which is “highly rated” so prior to going I was wondering how they compared.

The restaurant is very beautifully designed with lilac lighting and painted flowers darting around the room.  Staff there was very friendly and extremely helpful, highlighting to the person if the drink they picked contain an ingredient they are allergic to.

Each Dish is very carefully decorated, which is one of the  pleasures of having Japanese food. Nasu Goma is Grilled Aubergines with Sesame Paste.  The aubergine is tender  and is enriched with a very creamy, thick sesame paste.

Prawns wrapped in Kataifi pastry with creamy spicy sauce remind me of the ones I had in Dragon Palace.  Both of which are very delicious biting in to finely cut pastry.  Another personal favourite is Grain Fed Rib Eye Beef,  it was tender and so full of flavour.

However there were so downs, I find that the steam sea bass was over cooked.  The Oshitashi was very bland, you really need to rub it into the sauce and it was a bit on the cold side.
